What’s Happening?
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the federal government declared a Public Health Emergency (PHE). Since then, Medicaid programs like AHCCCS and KidsCare have automatically renewed, even if a member’s eligibility changed. Now that much of the population has been vaccinated and life after COVID is beginning to take shape, the PHE is expected to end later this year. What this means is you may need to reapply to keep your medical coverage. Depending on when you first applied for coverage and how long it was approved for, you could be affected up to a year after the end of the PHE.
The state will try to reach you regarding your coverage, but if your contact information is not up to date you will not receive this important information.
