Getting to know your provider
Why did you choose your profession?
Going into college I knew I wanted to go into medicine. During my undergraduate years I majored in Biology and followed the Pre-Med/Pre-Pharm track at ASU. With one semester left before graduation I had a life-changing experience that forced me to interact with the medical staff in the ICU at what was then Good Sam, now Banner University Medical Center. Having the opportunity to witness the interdisciplinary differences in real-time ROCKED MY WORLD… I fell in love with nursing. It provides me an opportunity to interact with my patients from a wholistic approach. Becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner was a natural progression for me to be able to broaden my scope and help more people with their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
Why do you work at NOAH?
I have prior experience working at a FQHC Community Health Center and I fell in love with the population served by these types of clinics. Everyone is entitled to QUALITY healthcare from providers who TRULY care, will listen and respect their patients, and meet their patients where they are at on their health journey. I also enjoy the constant challenge and critical thinking required when treating patients in this environment. I feel extremely honored to be able to build relationships, provide education, and help improve the health of patients I see.
What are your passions outside of your profession?
My son!!! He is my EVERYTHING! He is the BEST thing that ever has and will ever happen to me. He’s funny, sweet, scary smart, and the best part of my life. It’s safe to say I’m pretty obsessed with him.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do?
Depends on the jackpot amount… I would definitely pay off all of my bills and invest a nice chunk of it. A nice, extended vacation to somewhere tropical with my family and closest people is a MUST. I would probably travel more and make sure my son has the opportunity to experience the world. I have never traveled extensively and as I get older that is one thing I wish I would’ve/could do more of and it’s something I would like my son to experience. Overall though, I’m pretty sure I would still continue working with patients, maybe in a reduced capacity so I could spend as much time as possible with my son. I would honestly miss caring for my patients if I stopped.
